VISA

International researchers should apply for a D type national visa with footnote “researcher” (D13) in the Polish Consulate for a given country. As researchers, they are exempt from work permit.

Issuing documents at the University of Lodz

  • After the selection process is concluded and the faculty council has issued a positive opinion, documents from the faculty council are transferred to the Personnel Department, which prepares documents required to obtain a visa. Then, their scans are sent via e-mail to the interested party by the Personnel Department (original versions of the documents may also be sent via post).
  • All the remaining documents and certificates required by the Polish consulate in a given country (including insurance) must be delivered by the employed researcher.
  • All the necessary information may be found on the websites of the relevant consulates: Katalog jednostek - Gov.pl - Portal Gov.pl (www.gov.pl).
  • Upon the researcher’s request, the University of Lodz may issue a certificate to accommodate them in one of the university dormitories (contact: International Hub, ihub@uni.lodz.pl).

NOTE: an international researcher may apply for a research visa if they have a professional title equivalent to a Polish title of magister (MA degree), which would allow them to apply for a doctoral degree.

What is more, to obtain a promise of employment, it is necessary to provide a detailed scope of research that the international researcher is going to conduct.
