Jacek Furman is a President of the Management Board of AFLOFARM Farmacja Polska Sp. z o. o., the third largest Polish pharmaceutical company after Polpharma and Adamed, and a graduate in Management and Marketing.
As he reflects on his studies, he emphasises that they equipped him with essential skills to independently execute projects, find innovative solutions, and effectively address challenges and problems. The studies provided him with valuable insights on how and where to seek knowledge and find answers to various questions, which proved to be highly beneficial in his professional career on numerous occasions. During his studies, he was a member of the MarketPlace research club. During the club meetings, the primary focus was engaging in discussions, particularly analysing significant advertising and marketing campaigns and delving into their respective cases.
He firmly believes that in the pharmaceutical industry, effective coordination in a diverse team of various specialists such as doctors, pharmacists, biotechnologists, marketers, and researchers is of paramount importance. With a team of over 1,000 employees, Aflofarm emphasises the significance of close collaboration to consistently deliver high-quality products. He also highlights the importance of being attentive to consumers and patients, as their input plays a crucial role in the company's operations. This is one of the reasons why he happens to travel anonymously on BlaBlaCar. Engaging with new people and understanding their perspectives on the market provides valuable insights that enable the company to align its thinking with the consumers for whom the products are intended.
He considers the successful launch of Desmoxan, a drug that helps people overcome nicotine addiction, to be his greatest professional achievement. Since 2005, thanks to cytisine, the active ingredient of the said drug, 2.5 million people in Poland have stopped smoking. Knowing that their drug is helping millions of people part ways with this addiction is extremely satisfying and a source of pride for Jacek Furman. The fight against nicotine is also one of the main tasks of the Aflofarm Foundation.
