Jolanta Młodawska-Bronowska, Professor Emeritus of the Faculty of Economics and Sociology of the University of Lodz, received in Warsaw, from the hands of Akio Miyajima, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Poland, the Diploma of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Yoshimasa Hayashi. This is an award for "a significant contribution to the promotion of Japanese culture in Poland, as well as friendship and good will between Japan and many countries around the world."

This is the most beautiful gift for St. Nicholas Day that I could have dreamed of. I am extremely grateful and moved to receive such a valuable distinction in the field of promoting research on Japan. Thank you very much!

– said Prof. Jolanta Młodawska-Bronowska after the ceremony which took place on Wednesday, 6 December this year.  

In his speech, the Ambassador, Akio Miyajima, pointed to the scientific achievements of Prof. Młodawska-Bronowska in research on the Japanese economy, contribution to the dissemination of Japanese culture in Poland, organising scientific conferences, concluding agreements between Polish and Japanese universities and activating student exchange, as well as establishing cooperation with business partners in both countries.

A toast to the occasion, concluding the official part of the diploma award ceremony, was given by Dr Jadwiga Rodowicz-Czechowska, an outstanding specialist in the field of Japanese theatre, Polish Ambassador to Japan in the years 2008-2012.

The ceremony, which was held at the Residence of the Japanese Ambassador to Poland, was attended by, among others: Rector of the University of Lodz Prof. Elżbieta Żądzińska, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Sociology of the University of Lodz, Prof. Mariusz Sokołowicz, the management board of the Yakumo-goto Club Association, representatives of cooperating companies, family and friends.

There were many words of appreciation of the activities of Prof. Jolanta Młodawska-Bronowska, University of Lodz and the Faculty of Economics and Sociology, where the Professor used to work and develop her scientific passions regarding Japan and popularised information about it.

Previously, Prof. Młodawska-Bronowska, received the Diploma of the Japanese Ambassador to Poland in 2013. Therefore, this is a continuation of activities to strengthen Polish-Japanese relations on many levels.
