Naukowcy z UŁ przygotowali szkolenia dla IPA

Five scientists from the University of Lodz, at the request of the International Police Association, have prepared a series of short online trainings in the field of digital security and modern technologies. Several hundred thousand members of the international organisation can now benefit from this knowledge. The Provincial Police Commander in Lodz and the President of IPA have already thanked the researchers as well as authorities of their Faculties and the UL Rector.

Recordings on broadly understood issues in the field of cybersecurity have been prepared by scientists from three Faculties: the Faculty of International and Political Studies (prof. Ryszard Machnikowski and dr Andrzej Kozłowski), Faculty of Law and Administration (dr Joanna Kulesza) and the Faculty of Management (dr Dominika Kaczorowska-Spychalska and dr Artur Modliński). The topics covered included, among others, online terrorism, as well as cases of breaking the law in virtual reality.

The International Police Association consists of 400.000 people representing police and border guard services from 65 countries. Apart from the everyday international cooperation to ensure safety of residents, the Association makes sure that its members constantly learn and acquire knowledge necessary to follow the latest criminal threads. The Covid-19 epidemic has made this considerably more difficult, so IPA is trying to be active online.

This is yet another example of great cooperation of the University of Lodz with Polish and international services. Three years ago an agreement on broad cooperation between the police and the University, assuming the exchange of experiences and scientific development, was signed. Currently one of the most popular fields of study at the UL is Forensic Biology (Faculty of Biology and Environmental Protection), the field of study that is conducted jointly with practitioners, among others, from the uniformed services sector.
