Prof. Piotr Szukalski z UŁ członkiem polskiej delegacji do ONZ

On 10-14 April this year, the annual meeting of the Commission on Population and Development took place at the United Nations headquarters in New York. Prof. Piotr Szukalski from the Faculty of Economics and Sociology of the University of Lodz, a demographer and a social gerontologist, Vice-President of the Government Population Council was one of the members of the Polish delegation.

 

During the session of the Commission, Prof. Piotr Szukalski made a statement on behalf of the Polish delegation, and during a meeting at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Poland to the United Nations with Ambassador Krzysztof Szczerski and his deputy, Joanna Skoczek, he discussed the potential cooperation of RRL and the scientific community with the Permanent Mission in the event of Poland being elected to the United Nations Economic and Social Council, which our country is striving for.

The Commission on Population and Development advises the UN authorities in the area of monitoring and assessing the degree of implementation of the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development adopted in Cairo in 1994. The title of this year's 56th session of the Commission was "Population, education and sustainable development".
