Projekt Mentorski VIP UŁ po raz ósmy!

The pandemic has not managed to stop ambitious students of the University of Lodz and our outstanding graduates. The VIP Mentorship Project has started for the 8th time. Consistently implemented for years it consist in supporting talented, young people by professionally experienced representatives of the world of business, science, politics and even music. UL VIP Alumni is a very diversified group. This way the University of Lodz is trying to build an integrated environment of graduates, who do not lose touch with their home university.

Inauguration of the project was carried out online and in such a manner also mentor-mentee pair meetings will largely take place. Despite the pandemic we have managed to break another record in terms of the number of pairs – this year there are as many as 51 of them. Probably ‘a team’ would be a better term here as some of the mentors agreed to cooperate with two or three mentees.

What does the Mentorship Project consist in? Probably Dariusz Lis from InnoMentors Consulting, one of the most engaged members, described it best during inauguration of the 8th edition.

- Is it more mentoring or coaching? I prefer the latter first, as frequently the goal of a mentee is not fully determined and first, we need to ask ourselves relevant questions. When we already have it, that is when we proceed to the actual mentoring and we specify expectations and goals. Finally, we leave the mentoring process and jointly prove that in fact the young person has all the answers inside – said UL VIP Alumnus.

UL VIP Mentoring is one of the parts of a bigger project i.e., UL VIP ALUMNI.  It includes, among others, expert lectures with participation of specialists in many fields, and official ceremonial awarding of symbolic apples and expanding the circle of outstanding graduates of the University of Lodz. Currently the University of Lodz has 221 VIP Alumni and is ready to constantly expand this representation.

This is how it was a year ago, during the 7th inauguration of the Programme:
