As of August, free menstrual hygiene products can be found in a characteristic pink box, which has been installed in the women's toilet next to the cloakroom of the University of Lodz Library (on level -1). They can be used by all those in need, not only the library's readers. The box has been installed at such a height that people with mobility disabilities have access to it. We encourage you to use it as well as to share hygiene products!

The nearest such box can be found only in the Central Teaching Hospital of the Medical University of Lodz, Czechosłowacka street. Installing the box in the University of Lodz Library at Matejki 32, has now extended the access to hygiene products where they were missing. Location of the pink boxes can be checked on a special map.

The Pink Cache is also the name of the foundation that fights against exclusion and menstrual taboos. Its goal is to ensure universal access to free menstrual hygiene products in public spaces.

Let's take care of the contents of the box together!

The initiative is related to the wider phenomenon of female poverty, which is sometimes referred to as the "feminisation of poverty".

Research shows that the so-called menstrual poverty may affect every fifth woman in Poland. Women and girls affected by poverty cannot afford, for example, the monthly purchase of menstrual hygiene products. When choosing whether to buy food for the family or personal hygiene products, they often have to give up the purchase of the latter, which seems to be the standard of civilisation in the 21st century.
