First Stage of the project

The planned series of research and animation activities consists of ethnographic recognition of local cultural heritage recorded in the memories and stories of the inhabitants of several villages in the communes of Kroczyce, Niegowa, Lelów (Silesian Voivodeship) and providing local communities with tools to recreate, disseminate knowledge about the local cultural landscape and encourage reflection and action in favour of their identity and heritage.

The first stage of the project, i.e. ethnographic field research, began in July. They focus on the history associated with the events of the Second World War, with a particular focus on the fate of members of the local Jewish community. The researchers are interested in the knowledge and memory of a shared past, which is evoked, recalled and processed in the course of local discourse.
