UŁ w Łódzkim Partnerstwie Akademickim – podsumowanie i plany

University of Lodz together with the Lodz University of Technology, Medical University of Lodz, the Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts, the Grazyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz University of Music and the Lodz Film School form the Lodz Academic Partnership. Over the past year, the partnership has grown in importance and evolved from an idea to a real alliance committed to creating a better future for the Lodz academic community and the city as a whole.

The first joint Inauguration of the Academic Year

On Monday 2 October, for the first time ever, six leading universities in Lodz will jointly open the New Academic Year. The Rectors and representatives of each of the universities will welcome the new students and doctoral students in the building of the Arthur Rubinstein Philharmonic and all those gathered will be able to listen to the inaugural lecture by Dr Sławosz Uznański, entitled "Nowe spojrzenie na naszą planetę: od załogowych lotów kosmicznych do obserwacji Ziemi" [A new look at our planet: from manned spaceflight to Earth observation]. More information about the inauguration can be found on the website of the partnership.

Academic Lodz at Salony Maturzystów [Lounges of the Students Taking Matura Exams]

The partnership provides a solid basis for achieving the goals of each university and further development of joint projects. This academic year, for the first time, Lodz's universities have joined forces not only with one another, but also with the City of Lodz and, as Academic Lodz, they are exhibiting a joint stand at five editions of Salon Maturzystów, the nationwide educational fair. This is a remarkable and unprecedented step towards promoting Lodz's academic potential. It will enable the city, the voivodeship and, of course, the universities themselves to attract young talents even more effectively.

Culture and Arts at the University of Lodz in collaboration with universities from the Lodz Academic Partnership

Cultural and artistic cooperation between the University of Lodz and the universities associated in the Lodz Academic Partnership is flourishing, enriching the city’s cultural life. Together, we organise, among other things, exhibitions and concerts, creating an inspiring context for encounters between the University of Lodz community and culture and art. Students and academics from Lodz universities are involved in art projects, while cooperation with cultural institutions in Lodz helps to develop the University of Lodz offer in the area of art & science.

Cultural activities carried out by the University of Lodz in cooperation with other Lodz Academic Partnership universities include a number of projects, such as the series of chamber concerts "Music at Biedermann's", carried out jointly with the Grazyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz University of Music in Lodz, exhibition projects created in collaboration with the Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz (e.g. "The End of the City", "Riverscape", "Question Mark, the Space of Curiosity"), or accomplishments with the Lodz Film School, such as the organisation of Oksana Zabuzhko's visit to Lodz. There are more intriguing exhibition projects planned. Information about them will be published on the university's website.

The Lodz Academic Partnership declaration is almost a year old

Less than a year ago, on 29 November 2022, Rectors of the six universities from Lodz that make up the Lodz Academic Partnership (ŁPA) signed a Declaration to strengthen cooperation between Lodz public universities within the Lodz Academic Partnership. In this important document, they set common goals for Academic Lodz and its future vision. The signatories expressed their willingness to intensify the cooperation, understanding the key role of the universities in the development of the city and the region. They have initiated interaction at many levels: science and research, education and socio-economic relations. According to their vision, the Lodz Academic Partnership was to be the foundation of Lodz's future academic and cultural development, closely integrating the universities’ staff and students in a spirit of cooperation and commitment. An account of the signing of the Declaration can be found on the University of Lodz website.

The first months of joint activities and their results prove beyond any doubt that the expectations and hopes placed in the Partnership are materialising and provide the basis for further successful cooperation between the universities, their communities and their partners.
