The European Council for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (ECSB) is a non-profit organisation, the activity of which is based on scientific research in the field of entrepreneurship and small business. It was founded in 1988 and currently has about 400 members representing 42 countries. The primary purpose of the organisation is to disseminate scientific knowledge and to foster research and an open exchange of ideas between the academic community, politics and practice.
I am very pleased with the new function entrusted to me. It is a huge responsibility, but also an opportunity to actually shape the European scientific scene in the field of entrepreneurship. I believe that it will bring many tangible benefits to the University of Lodz and the growing group of people involved in entrepreneurship at our university. I am already using my experience in the just inaugurated Academy of Entrepreneurship.

ECSB is recognized as the main organisation of European entrepreneurial academics who successfully collaborate with the community of practice and contribute to increasing the social impact in the area of entrepreneurship across Europe.
Dr hab. Agnieszka Kurczewska, prof. UL has been a member of ECSB for 10 years and has been a member of the Management Board of this organisation for 6 years. During her tenure, she has created the BLI (Best Learning Innovation) competition, she has organized scientific workshops for young scientists and coordinated the activities of representatives of national authorities. She is the first president from Poland and Central and Eastern Europe in the history of the organization.
