„Odkryj Łódź” - książka dr Karoliny Kołodziej z UŁ dla dzieci z Ukrainy

The Ukrainian version of "Odkryj Łódź" by dr Karolina Kołodziej from the Faculty of Philology, University of Lodz has been written to help the youngest familiarise themselves with the new space of our city. It is a proper dose of knowledge combined with good fun and ideas for interesting creative activities, as well as suggestions for walks around the city.

The Ukrainian version of the book has been made available by the publisher and author for free non-commercial use by everyone in the form of a pdf file – «Відкрий Лодзь». You can read the whole book, or you can use specific chapters for thematic activities.

It is designed to convey information in a way that is accessible to the youngest and consolidate it by performing simple handwork from readily available materials, including recycled materials. When children read and watch, for example, bees on the facades of the buildings of Lodz, they can later make a bee with their own hands from a PET bottle, plastic bags and blotting paper. We wanted the book not only to show the charms of Lodz, but also to become a stepping stone from the nightmare of the war. It is a set of ready-made materials for work with Ukrainian children, which can be used in kindergartens, primary schools, during library classes and workshops. As the Polish-language book version is still available, the material can also be used by Polish-speaking animators and teachers working with children from Ukraine.

– says dr Karolina Kołodziej.

The book in Ukrainian version has been written in cooperation between Karolina Kołodziej, REGIO Centrum Inicjatyw na Rzecz Rozwoju, Olga Leszczyna (translator), Magda Warszawa (composition) and Maciej Kronenberg (coordination).
