It was a very difficult tournament. I had extra time three times which made me very tired, so I'm even more happy with the gold medal. I have the Polish Cup in Rybnik ahead of me, which is why the first place on the podium during the Polish Academic Championships in Piła gives me additional motivation

– Dawid Pietras summed up his performance.

Dawid is a beneficiary of the new dual career programme "Studies and Sport" at the University of Lodz and trains judo at the Academic Sports Association of Lodz on a daily basis.

Pietras' victory is not the only success of judokas of the University of Lodz. Magdalena Jarkowska, who won the silver medal in the classification of universities, took the fifth place in the up to 70 kg category.

In the general classification, University of Lodz took the 12th place, and the fourth place in the classification of universities, missing the podium by just 0.5 points. This is the best performance of the University of Lodz representatives this season so far.

Congratulations to all the athletes and Leszek Piąstka – the trainer.
